Four decisions that define it
01

The local database is the source of truth

Not a cache. The app never waits on a network call to complete a sale, because a shop counter with a queue at it cannot wait either. Sync, when it runs, reconciles in the background and is allowed to fail.

02

Size is a feature

Shopkeepers install over patchy mobile data onto cheap Windows machines and entry-level Android phones. ~15 MB installs; ~250 MB gets abandoned halfway. This constraint shaped every dependency decision in the codebase.

03

Twenty-two languages, on the invoice itself

Not a translated interface — the printed invoice. A customer in Theni should be handed a bill they can read. This is the single most-requested thing that incumbents do not do properly.

04

Keyboard first

The fastest counter operators never touch a mouse. Every billing action has a key, and the whole sale can be completed without leaving the keyboard.
